About The Company

Hugo de Groot has worked with leading interior designers and bespoke furniture makers for over 25 years.

We carry out myriad finishes such as Shagreen, Vellum and Gilding, both on furniture and interiors.

We have fulfilled commissions for many of the most sought after interior designers including Nicky Haslam, Mary Fox Linton, Robert Angell, Turner Pocock, VSP Interiors, BB Design House, Hamilford Design and bespoke furniture makers Ben Whistler.

As well as furniture, commissions include murals, wall treatments and architectural gilding, with work in homes and hotels across the world. Some of the hotels we have worked with are Claridges, The Berkeley, The Connaught, Soho House Amsterdam, Gleneagles and The Adare Manor Hotel.

Whether it’s a unique piece of furniture, a one of a kind wall or ceiling treatment, or artwork, Hugo and his team of experts have it covered.

Many clients come to us knowing exactly what they want, whilst others are open to suggestions.

From our studios in London we can plan, experiment and realise a vast array of finishes.

We are more than used to challenges, artistic and technical, and relish the constant variety of ideas and solutions.

We are also quietly proud of never having missed a deadline…

About Hugo

Born in New York and raised in London, Hugo’s creative education began at Chelsea School of Art. Graduating from The London College of Printing with a degree in Graphic Design, Hugo then worked briefly as an Art Director at Saatchi & Saatchi in New York.

It was at this time that Hugo began pursuing his career as an artist with his paintings being shown in galleries in New York, San Francisco and here in London (latterly at The Saatchi Gallery).

Working with Ben Whistler, co-founded by his brothers, Hugo saw the potential to provide creative services to the world of Interior Design. As Ben Whistler grew, so did the breadth of artistic finishes Hugo was called upon to do.

So it is with pleasure that we show you just some of the countless projects carried out by Hugo de Groot.
